Charlie Pike

The British Horseracing Authority granted his licence in December 2025, making him the youngest licensed trainer in the country. Weeks later he took charge at Danebury Stables, the historic Hampshire yard beneath Danebury Hill, as Racing Club relocated its string from Lambourn.

The grounding was thorough. A childhood in the hunting field and the show ring gave way to a first job with Jimmy Fox, then spells with Richard Hannon, Jamie Snowden and Barry Brennan, before he stepped up as assistant to Paul Attwater at Newlands Stables. When Attwater retired, Pike was ready to go it alone.

His first runner, the colt Padraig Dawn, won on debut at Southwell. By the spring he had been supplemented for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket — and Pike found himself in the parade ring alongside Aidan O’Brien and Charlie Appleby, with a real chance of becoming the youngest Classic-winning trainer in British history.
