Greatwood was the first charity to use former racehorses to educate disadvantaged children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Greatwood places emotional wellbeing, mindfulness and inclusion at the heart of all of its Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) programmes.

What to expect

We are delighted to welcome you to Greatwood Charity. Greatwood has been established for 25 years and is the first charity to combine equine welfare with educating children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) using former racehorses.

11.30am –  Introduction to Greatwood & the use former racehorses in educational programmes

12.00pm –  Parade of resident horses in hand

12.30pm  – Field change over

1pm- Ridden work in arena

1.30pm –  Talk/ demonstration from rehabilitation specialists

2.30pm – Yard closes
