Overview

Kirtlington Stud was founded in 1939 by Arthur Budgett; dual derby winning owner, breeder and trainer. The original stud produced several top-class horses including Derby winners Blakeney and Morston. Arthur’s youngest son Chris took over managing the stud in 1984 and purchased land in 1989 to develop the purpose-built stud we have today. The stud covers approximately 345 acres of Limestone Brash and is in one of the most successful square miles in England for raising Thoroughbreds. We are the first stud farm in England to foal, raise and consign a World Champion in Harbinger. The stud is split into three units offering boarding facilities for broodmares, foals, yearlings and consigning at major sales. We are a family run company located in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, 9 miles from Oxford and 4 miles from the M40 and A34. Easily accessible from the South, London and the Midlands.
