Overview

Our horses receive the highest standard of care in every stage of their lives. Whether they are the top-performing racehorses, parenting the next generation at stud after their racing days are over or retirees pursuing second careers; throughout their lives they are all assured of quality care and attention from our global network of employees.

Retired thoroughbred racehorses are versatile. A retrained thoroughbred can excel in many disciplines off the track such as dressage, showjumping, eventing, polo, hunting or for pleasure riding or as a companion horse. With retraining, a thoroughbred can be the perfect mount for a competent rider.

Our priority is the welfare of the horses and we want them to be able to go on to successfully fulfil other roles once their racing careers have finished.

We work with our regional partners to support Godolphin-owned thoroughbred horses as they move on to a life after racing. The Godolphin Thoroughbred Rehoming scheme operates from Newmarket. We rehome and retrain geldings; most of whom have raced in the blue silks. We aim to give these horses the chance to embark on an alternative career with a new owner.

This will feature one of the horses currently residing at Godolphin Rehoming ridden by Sophie Stanfield accompanied by Louise Robson of Thoroughbred Dressage to demonstrate the retraining process and journey. Louise is a dressage rider who specialises in the retraining of racehorses and competes at all levels both here and abroad. Louise has won both Regional and National titles and her top OTTB, Quadrille, who was bred and raced by HM The Queen, was crowned RoR Elite Dressage horse and RoR Horse of the Year in 2019. Visitors will also have the option to see the retired horses in the field including Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter, Dubai World Cup Winners Prince Bishop and African Story.
