Overview
West Lockinge Farm is a relaxed old fashioned farmyard, where horses enjoy variation and intermingling with the ducks and geese. It is quiet and welcoming to visitors who can wander around the many different stables and barns, plus take a walk up the gallops and enjoy the countryside.
The farmhouse dating back to 1760 is the centre stage and overlooks all the stables, it is Henrietta Knight’s home and together with her late husband Terry Biddlecombe she trained over 700 winners from 1989 to 2012, including Best Mate – 3 times Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and Edredon Bleu who won the Champion Chase in 2000. After an 11 year break, Henrietta has re started training with Brendan Powell, 1998 Grand National winning rider, her assistant. Brendan trained nearly 700 winners in his own right, before spending 5 years as Joseph O’Brien’s assistant. The Martin Collins mile gallop has recently been renovated and the schooling field with its numerous obstacles is legendary. There is Hen’s loose jumping school which has helped many horses. All visitors welcome. Friendly staff and one highly efficient and ever tolerant secretary, Dawn Graham!
