Overview

We are delighted to welcome you to our Open Day as part of National Racehorse Week.

We have filled our open day with lots of exciting things! Our yard will be having a vet, a farrier, an equine nutritionist, a saddler, a pre-trainer and our re-trainers attending on the day. They will be giving talks and answering any questions you may have about the life and work of racehorses as well as the adjustments and changes that they make when they retire from racing.

We will have a range of horses in for visitors to meet including an event horse who came 2nd at the ROR National Championships; a veteran ex-hurdler, who has turned his hoof to many other things; an ex flat horse that is now eventing; and this year’s leading point to pointer amongst others!

What to expect

During the open day, you will have the opportunity to meet a variety of ex racehorses, as well as enjoy a Side Saddle demonstration, ridden demonstrations on ex racehorses from varying racing backgrounds, a ground work demonstration and lots more. We have also organised some local equine professionals to speak to you about a number of post racing topics.
