Overview
A qualified farrier by trade, Phil set out training in 2007 and in his first year with 4 horses became the seasons Leading Hunter Chase Trainer. He has since grown into one of the North’s leading trainers with a fantastic team behind him and some lovely horses past & present he has had the privilege of training. Holding a dual licence, the yard has enjoyed many listed and graded winners, both on the flat and over
jumps.
It is a purpose built yard which was renovated from old, very overgrown and completely run down cow barns. We have a round gallop, a straight, a walker, and a lunge pen. Handy turnout paddocks which are
used by the in training horses regularly, as well as much larger fields for summer grazing.

What to expect
The yard prides itself on its friendly manner and it will be an informal chat as people mingle around the yard where they can talk to and ask any questions they have to any of our staff as well as Pippa and Phil Kirby. An informative chat about our current horses, retired/rehoming horses and stud yard located a few mins along the lane away. A chance to see our broodmares and foals in the fields. People will be invited to walk down the gallop to a point where they can view the horses exercise on our gallops. There will be demonstrations on preparing a horse for the races, including: plaiting up and quarter marking, tacking up with racing tack and even an equiciser demo by one (or more!) of our jockeys.
