Join us for a fantastic day at Brian Rothwell’s Yard, where visitors will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and experience life at a working yard. Whether you are a long-time supporter, an owner, a racing enthusiast, or simply interested in learning more about the industry, this open day promises an enjoyable and informative experience for all ages.

Guests will be welcomed to explore the yard, meet the team, and gain an insight into the day-to-day care, training, and management of the horses. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to see the facilities, watch demonstrations, and learn about the dedication and expertise required to prepare horses for racing.

What to expect

Visitors will be invited to take part in a guided tour around Brian Rothwell’s Yard, offering a close-up look at the facilities and day-to-day operations of a professional racing yard. Throughout the tour, guests will have the chance to speak with Brian Rothwell and members of the team, gaining valuable insight into training routines, horse care, and what goes into preparing horses for racing. As part of the experience, visitors will see horses in action on the horse walker, an important piece of equipment used to maintain fitness, aid recovery, and support overall wellbeing. There will also be demonstrations of horses being lunged, showcasing how this technique is used to improve balance, obedience, and conditioning under the guidance of experienced staff. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to observe the horses at close quarters and ask questions, making for an engaging and informative behind-the-scenes experience.
