Overview

Based in the village of Coverham, near Middleham in the Yorkshire Dales, Liam Bailey has established himself as one of the region’s progressive young trainers since taking out his dual training licence in 2019. He heads the team at Foulrice Park Racing, the operation founded by Colin and Ailsa Stirling in 2010 and based at its permanent Middleham home since 2013.

Working with a carefully managed string, Liam has developed a reputation for improving horses on both the Flat and under National Hunt rules. His patient, individual approach allows each horse to reach its potential, with the yard enjoying steady success and an increasing number of winners season after season. From experienced handicappers to younger horses in development, the team focuses on producing consistent performances throughout the year.

With a dedicated team, excellent training facilities and the renowned gallops of Middleham on the doorstep, Liam continues to build a competitive operation that combines traditional horsemanship with a modern, professional approach.

What to expect

As part of National Racehorse Week, visitors are invited to go behind the scenes at Liam Bailey Racing to experience life in a working training yard. The open day offers the chance to meet the horses, see the facilities and gain an understanding of the routines that underpin a racehorse’s preparation, from daily exercise and fitness work through to care, recovery and race planning. Liam and his team will be on hand to explain the training process and the importance of each role within the yard, while also sharing insights into racehorse welfare and ownership. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and gain a real appreciation of the teamwork involved in preparing horses for the track.
