Overview

Spigot Lodge is steeped in racing history and is named after Jack Spigot, winner of the 1821 St Leger. The yard was also home to the preparation of The Flying Dutchman, winner of the 1849 Epsom Derby, while renowned trainers including John Fobert, Henry Hall, Colonel Lyde, Sam Hall and Chris Thornton have all produced top-class winners from Spigot Lodge.

Ideally situated between Middleham’s High and Low Moor gallops, the yard offers access to some of the finest training facilities in the country. These include a seven-furlong uphill Polytrack, a four-furlong warm-up track, a grass gallop on Low Moor, and High Moor’s one-mile four-furlong carpet gallop, alongside exceptional grass gallops and starting stalls.

Continuous investment has transformed Spigot Lodge into one of the best-equipped thoroughbred training facilities in the North of England, ensuring every horse in Karl Burke’s care benefits from first-class training and outstanding facilities.
